born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.
She spent several years in Atlanta, Georgia
and currently resides in the Twin Cities area of
Minnesota. As
a teen, Karla began writing for personal
fulfillment and continued to write occasionally
until a few years ago, when she began to
experience a renewed sense of motivation, focus,
and discipline. Since then, Ms. MarKay has
shared her literary work at readings, as part of
stage presentations, on the Internet, and as
contributions to magazines, newsletters, journals,
and anthologies. The Whispers of A

Turn
around
And
throw the window wide open
Just
outside
Sits
a fragrant bed of perfect purple
Offering
teardrops as jewels at dawn
In
silent mourning for the one
That
did not see the morning sun
Turn
around
And
throw the window wide open
Just
beyond
A
shining blanket of silver
Ripples
as far as eye can see
Undulating
so high
Becoming
one with rainbow sky
And
just above
Golden
spheres of light at midnight
Blink
their unspoken code
Heavy
with hints to all the answers
Beckoning,
beseeching the beholder
To
turn around
And
throw the window wide open.
